DataFS SDK Setup
This section describes how to install DataFS SDK to start development of applications
that use DataFS. It also describes how to install the Visual Studio integration components.
Run the DataFSSDK.msi to install the SDK. This will copy all the header files, lib files
and dlls as well as assemblies and everything you need to your computer.
The setup is also copying setup files to the disk into the 'Setup' directory, directly below
the main directory (normally %programfiles(x86)%\Mobiland DataFS SDK\Setup).
DataFS Developer Server
You can install the developer edition of the DataFS server using the 'DataFS Server Developer.msi'
from the 'Setup' directory (normally %programfiles(x86)%\Mobiland DataFS SDK\Setup).
You can get the product key needed for free from the website where you downloaded the SDK.
You can find the eventlog of the server in the event viewer. Go to 'Event Viewer' -> 'Application and Services Logs'
-> 'Mobiland' -> 'DataFS'.
The setup of every 'DataFS Server' also installs the 'BlackBox'. This is a crash recorder to
collect dumps of crashed servers. Normally the BlackBox does only collect data and store it
to the local disk. But the 'Developer' edition of 'DataFS Server' does register itself for
automatic sending of crash reports. If you want to disable this, remove the entry for the
server from the registry key 'HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Mobiland\BlackBox\App'.
Visual Studio Integration
The DataFS SDK integrates into Visual Studio (currently 2012-2019 is supported). This is
done when you run the setup. If you install a new Visual Studio after running the setup, you
can also run the integration process manually by running 'SetupVSConfig.exe -install' from
the 'Setup' directory (normally %programfiles(x86)%\Mobiland DataFS SDK\Setup). This will
install the extensions and templates in Visual Studio.
